Lyn Hook – Head Coach

Yvonne Willering – Netbal Nederland Ambassadeur

Netbal Nederland is also proud to announce the appointment of Yvonne Willering as a Netbal Nederland Ambassadeur, bringing extensive high-performance coaching expertise to the growth of the sport in the Netherlands.

Internationally respected for her leadership in elite netball environments, Yvonne has made a significant impact on coach development and high-performance programme design in New Zealand. Her experience in building performance culture and raising coaching standards will play a key role in supporting the continued development of netball in the Netherlands.

With her Nederlands heritage and strong belief in the ambition to establish a national team, Yvonne will support the programme as a strategic sounding board, contributing virtually through workshops and club engagement to help elevate coaching standards nationwide.

A New Chapter for Netbal Nederland

Netball is expanding rapidly in the Netherlands, with eight clubs across multiple cities and a thriving National Netball League that has brought players and communities together. The sport continues to grow, attracting new participants and building a strong, connected network of clubs and volunteers.

To sustain this momentum and develop the next generation of elite players, Netball Netherlands is launching the National Team Programme, creating clear pathways from club-level play to national representation, providing the foundation for a high-performance national pathway and the continued growth of netball across the country.

What Is Netball?

Netball is a fast paced and dynamic, team sport that emphasises quick passing, movement, and tactical play. While it shares some similarities with basketball and korfball, netball has no dribbling, defined player positions, and a focus on precision and teamwork. Traditionally played by women, it’s now embraced by all genders around the world.

Played by over 20 million people across more than 80 countries, netball is especially popular in Commonwealth nations such as Australia (current world champions), New Zealand, the UKEngland, and Jamaica. With increasing investment in youth programs and tournaments, netball’s popularity is booming across Europe and the Netherlands.
