Volunteer Umpire Liaison

Volunteer for the League Committee

Netbal Nederland is seeking an organized and communicative volunteer to join our League Committee as the Umpire Liaison!

Role Overview

Umpires are vital to the success of our competitions, and this role ensures they are effectively coordinated, supported, and scheduled throughout the season. Acting as the key link between the League Committee and our officiating community, you will help deliver league fixtures smoothly while fostering the development, engagement, and retention of umpires across the Netherlands. Through clear communication, efficient coordination, and ongoing support, you will contribute directly to the quality, consistency, and professionalism of our competitions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Scheduling & Coordination

  • Create and manage the umpire schedule for all league match days, ensuring all fixtures have qualified or developing officials, in collaboration with the NNL Umpire Lead

  • Maintain an up-to-date database of available umpires, their qualification levels, and their weekly availability

  • Act as the main contact person for umpires regarding scheduling conflicts, illness, or match-day adjustments

  • Assist in ensuring umpire appointments are made fairly and, where possible, avoid conflicts of interest

2. Match Day Support

  • Assist with resolving last-minute umpire shortages or scheduling changes

  • Support communication between clubs, umpires and league officials on match days when required

3. Umpire Support & Development

  • Ensure new and existing umpires feel supported, valued, and integrated into the Netbal Nederland community.

  • Support the recruitment and retention of new umpires within the league

  • Assist with identifying development opportunities and training needs for umpires, in collaboration with NNL Umpire Lead

Requirements
  • Professional fluency in English; conversational Dutch is a helpful asset but not mandatory.

  • Basic competency with shared spreadsheets (Google Sheets or Excel) to manage scheduling rotas.

  • Strong organizational skills, clear and polite communication, and a reliable approach to problem-solving.

  • Ability to manage personal information and contact details responsibly and confidentially. 

  • A background in netball or refereeing is highly beneficial.

Locations:
  • Remote / Work from home (with occasional meet ups during matches)
