Our Story
Netbal Nederland exists to build a sport and a community that does not yet fully exist in this country.
Netball is a globally played sport with over 20 million participants and strong popularity among women’s team sports. In the Netherlands, it is still emerging. That gives us something rare: the opportunity to shape it properly from the beginning.

We are building an inclusive, nationally recognised netball structure that welcomes:
-
Women, men, and players of any gender
-
Dutch and international players
-
Beginners to elite athletes
This is not just about match play. It is about belonging, opportunity, and growth.

Today, we already have 7 affiliated netball clubs across the Netherlands and Belgium, forming the foundation of a growing network. Our strategic direction is informed by the clubs, whom meet regularly to guide and inform the agenda of Netball Netherlands.
Mission
Our mission is to empower our players, clubs, and all officeholders who participate in the Netherlands and facilitate safe play.
We will do this by:
-
Promoting the sport
-
Facilitating a national league
-
Coordinating access to skills development for umpires, coaches and officiates
-
Developing international ties to enable higher level and all-level Netball competition

Key activities to fulfil this are:
-
Become an official sport in the Netherlands by working closely with the Nederlands Olympisch Comité, Nederlandse Sport Federatie and the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce
-
Secure Associate Member status with Netball Europe
-
Work closely with club representatives to support the work of Netball Netherlands
-
Launch and coordinate the national netball league
-
Develop player skills, umpiring and coaching capacities. This includes the delivery of the national umpiring development curriculum
-
Increase awareness for the opportunity to participate in netball (playing, funding, officiating, managing, supporting)
