It’s an exciting time for netball in the Netherlands! ollowing our milestone of becoming a Full Member of Europe Netball, our community is expanding rapidly with a growing National League and newly launched National Team Pathways. Netbal Nederland is looking for a collaborative, structured, and visionary volunteer to join our Board of Directors as Technical Director (Technisch Directeur).
Time Commitment: Approx. 5-8 hours per week (flexible)
Location: Remote / Work from home (with occasional in-person meetings and events)
Role Overview
As Technical Director, you will be the structural architect of Dutch netball. Your main responsibility will be acting as the bridge connecting the Executive Board with our core operational committees: Performance Pathway, Coaching, Umpiring, and the League.
You won't be building this from scratch, we already have dedicated leads managing day to day operations for each working group, as well as a Performance Director guiding high-performance vision. Your role is to connect the big picture: empowering committee leads, ensuring domestic leagues fuel our high-performance goals, and creating feedback loops where elite level insights help grow local clubs.
Key Responsibilities
Competition, Development & Performance Frameworks

Establish standards and competition structures for national leagues and tournaments.

Help oversee national development frameworks for coaches and umpires, liaising with Europe Netball regarding formal accreditation pathways.

Oversee clear, fair talent pipelines so local club players can smoothly transition into High-Performance squads.

Oversee the maintenance and updates of official competition regulations (wedstrijdreglement) and disciplinary/appeals guidelines alongside the League and Umpiring committees.

Work hand in hand with our Performance Director to align domestic league structures, referee training, and coaching clinics with international standards.

Ensure momentum from national team pathways actively strengthens local clubs, benefiting players, coaches, umpires, and grassroots volunteers alike.

Help align domestic technical frameworks with Europe Netball and World Netball guidelines.
Working with the board

Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and the operational committees (Performance Pathway, Coaching, Umpiring, and League).

Help translate the board strategy into clear technical action and ensure technical portfolios are represented in board decisions.

Mentor and support committee Leads, providing guidance, resources, and encouragement to help them succeed.

Present annual technical strategies and portfolio updates to member clubs at the General Assembly (ALV)
Requirements

Practical understanding or experience in netball infrastructure, tournament organization, coaching frameworks, or officiating.

Leadership or project management experience within sports organizations, community groups, or volunteer teams

Strong communication skills with an approachable, collaborative leadership style

Professional fluency in written and spoken English; working knowledge or fluency in Dutch is a helpful advantage, but not essential

A passion for sport and a desire to help netball grow in the Netherlands.

Organised with an interest in building sustainable frameworks for a growing sport.

Important note on eligibility: To maintain objective and neutral governance across the sport, this board role is not compatible with any active board positions at local netball clubs within the Netherlands.
