It’s an incredibly exciting time for Netball in the Netherlands! With our community expanding rapidly in local clubs and our presence growing internationally, we are entering a new phase of development. Netbal Nederland is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and community-minded volunteer to join our Board of Directors as Operational Director
Time Commitment: Approx. 5-8 hours per week (flexible)
Location: Remote / Work from home (with occasional in-person meetings and events)
Role Overview
As Operations Director, you will be the driving force behind member engagement, club development, and grassroots expansion across the country. A central focus of this role will be bringing Netbal Nederland’s 3-year growth strategy to life, working to introduce netball into Dutch schools, build local community hubs, and welcome more Dutch players to the sport.
You will serve as the bridge between our national governing board and local netball communities, ensuring our expansion initiatives run smoothly, efficiently, and with plenty of community energy.
Key Responsibilities
Community Growth, Club Development & Operations

Implement Netbal Nederland’s three-year growth strategy by expanding participation and awareness across Dutch communities, schools, universities, and youth sports programme

Coordinate growth initiatives and working groups focused on player recruitment, grassroots participation, and establishing new clubs in underserved regions.

Act as the primary, approachable point of contact for existing netball clubs across the Netherlands, helping them address operational needs and share best practices.

Support energetic community members looking to establish new netball clubs or local hubs.

Develop practical operational guidelines and resources to simplify event delivery, volunteer coordination, and introductory netball sessions.

Coordinate volunteer support for national events, ensuring everyone has clear guidance and an enjoyable experience.

Help improve lightweight operational guidelines and resources that make running tournaments and school taster sessions easier for everyone.
Working with the board

Share ideas and work with other Directors to help the organisation grow.

Help translate the 3-year growth plan into clear action

Support fellow Board members and volunteers to strengthen teamwork and organisational effectiveness.

Share progress updates and report on key developments at monthly Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM/ALV).

Actively contribute to Board discussions, strategic planning, and collective decision-making.
Requirements

Background or strong interest in operations, event coordination, project execution, or community outreach (sports background is a bonus, but not required!).

Good written and spoken English; working knowledge or conversational Dutch is a great advantage given the focus on local school and community engagement, but not essential.

Strong interpersonal skills, warmth, and an approachable communication style.

Organized, action-oriented, and capable of keeping multi-faceted projects moving forward smoothly.

A genuine passion for building inclusive community sports.

Important note on eligibility: To maintain objective and neutral governance across the sport, this board role is not compatible with any active board positions at local netball clubs within the Netherlands.
