Round 5 Match Update

Another exciting weekend of National League netball took place as Round 5 brought together all eight teams across the Netherlands. The matches delivered intensity, determination and some major moments in the league, including a historic result that shifts the balance at the top of the table. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MATCH 1 

Rotterdam vs ANC2 

📍 Rotterdam 

Rotterdam Netball Club hosted Amsterdam Netball Club 2 in a closely contested match that remained competitive throughout the first half. Both teams started strongly, finishing the first quarter level at 10–10, and continued to match each other goal for goal into the second quarter. 

After the halftime break, ANC2 began to find more rhythm in attack and applied stronger defensive pressure, allowing them to edge ahead during the third quarter. Rotterdam continued to fight hard, but Amsterdam 2 maintained their momentum to close out the match with a solid win.

MATCH 2 

BNC vs DHNC 

📍 Brussels 

Brussels Netball Club welcomed The Hague Netball Club for Round 5, where DHNC delivered a commanding performance from the opening whistle. The Hague established early control in the first quarter and steadily built their lead through confident attacking play and disciplined defense. 

Despite the challenging scoreline, Brussels continued to show determination and commitment throughout the match, battling hard for every possession. The Hague maintained their composure and accuracy to secure a decisive victory.

MATCH 3 

ANC1 vs UNC 

📍 Amsterdam 

One of the most anticipated matches of the round took place in Amsterdam as ANC1 faced Utrecht Netball Club. Both teams started with intensity, but Utrecht managed to edge ahead in the first half through consistent attacking combinations and strong defensive pressure. 

Amsterdam fought back in the third quarter and narrowed the gap, keeping the match competitive. However, Utrecht held their composure in the final quarter and finished strongly to secure a convincing victory.

ANC1 37 – 50 UNC

This result marks a significant moment in the National League, as ANC1 suffered their first league defeat after over two years of unbeaten performances. 

 

MATCH 4 

MNC vs AFNC 

📍 Maastricht 

Maastricht Netball Club hosted Amersfoort Netball Club in what proved to be one of the most dramatic matches of the round. Amersfoort controlled the early stages, building a strong lead through the first half and heading into the third quarter still ahead. 

Maastricht, however, produced an impressive comeback in the final stages of the match. With renewed energy and determination, they turned the game around in the final quarter to claim a well-earned victory on home court.

A fantastic comeback by Maastricht and great effort from both teams. 

 

STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 5 

With Round 5 now completed, the National League standings continue to evolve. Utrecht Netball Club retains the top position on the log after their victory over Amsterdam 1. Heading into Round 5, Utrecht already led the table, with only goal difference separating them from ANC1. The match proved historic, as it marked the first time ANC1 has been defeated in the National League since the competition began. 

The Hague Netball Club also climbs into second place, continuing their strong form this season, while Amsterdam 1 now sits in third position. With the competition entering its final rounds, the race for the top spots remains intense and every match will play a crucial role in determining the final standings. 

 

The league continues to showcase the growing strength and competitiveness of netball across the Netherlands.
